Before falling into Kaido’s hands and turning him into the “Strongest Creature in the World,” the rare Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu Devil Fruit went through an intense and dramatic journey. This legendary fruit didn’t simply come to Kaido by chance, it changed owners multiple times and nearly ended up with other key figures during the chaotic God Valley incident!
1. A prize in the God Valley human hunt
It’s still unclear how or where the Celestial Dragon originally obtained this Devil Fruit. However, the Celestial Dragon initially possessed the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, along with other fruits like the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, before the God Valley incident.
During this event, the Celestial Dragon hosted a brutal human hunt, a horrifying spectacle where nobles hunted humans and other races for sport. Kuma (from the Buccaneer tribe) and the Davy tribe were the main targets.
As a “reward” for those who scored the most points, they offered treasures and rare items, including the two legendary Devil Fruits: Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu and Nikyu Nikyu no Mi (which Kuma later ate).
But the most sought-after prize wasn’t just the Devil Fruits, it was also Shakuyaku, considered the “most beautiful woman in the world” at the time, who became the main prize of the hunt.
2. Ivankov briefly held the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
When God Valley descended into chaos, Ivankov had the chance to possess the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, while Kuma held the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. Ivankov might have eaten the Uo Uo no Mi if Big Mom hadn’t shown up just in time to snatch it away.
At least Kuma managed to eat the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, which gave him new powers he used to save over 500 people during the God Valley incident.
Later on, Ivankov found a Devil Fruit better suited to him: the Horu Horu no Mi, which lets him manipulate human hormones.
3. Big Mom’s plan stolen by Kaido in front of her son
After successfully taking the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu from Ivankov, Big Mom had a clear plan: she intended to give it to her strongest son, Katakuri. She believed this would make her pirate crew even more powerful in the future.
But in a dramatic twist, Kaido suddenly appeared, struck Big Mom in the face with his kanabo, and immediately ate the Devil Fruit right before her eyes.
With his new dragon powers, Kaido quickly flew off to find Rocks D. Xebec and Whitebeard. Even before fully mastering his new abilities, Kaido used them to challenge the “world,” specifically Imu, who manifests through Jaygarcia Saturn.
4. Uo Uo no Mi becomes Kaido’s main source of power for years
As we know, Kaido mastered the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu for decades, earning the title “Strongest Creature in the World.”
Currently, Kaido’s fate remains uncertain after being defeated by Luffy and blasted by an underwater volcanic eruption. In One Piece, unless confirmed by Oda, characters remain in a state of “unknown fate.”
However, if Kaido is truly dead, it means the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu has returned to the world, waiting for a new owner to find and claim it.
