Who’s the Richest Kid in Doraemon? Meet Bill Money

Doraemon’s mysterious wealthy student leaves Suneo speechless

Have you ever wondered who is the richest kid in Doraemon? Suneo, the flashy friend who loves to show off, often leaves Nobita and the gang amazed with his luxury. But surprisingly, he’s not the wealthiest among them.

Nobita’s home isn’t extravagant, but it still sparks envy with its cozy house, small garden, and a pantry always stocked with snacks. His room piled with toys and comics gives viewers a sense of comfort and warmth in his family. Shizuka’s situation is just as impressive, living in a detached house and even having a private violin tutor, a luxury not everyone can afford. Meanwhile, Jaian’s family seems less well-off, as he sometimes borrows food or toys from friends.

The most standout is still Suneo. His family owns a grand villa with luxurious interiors and even a private swimming pool. Suneo’s father is a big boss, and Suneo himself is always the first to own the latest toys or travel around the world, boasting about having villas everywhere. It sounds impressive, but sometimes Suneo exaggerates. His villa often leaks, and his antiques are mostly fakes, showing that while his family is wealthy, they’re not exactly top-tier tycoons.

So who really is the richest kid in Doraemon? The answer is Bill Money (original name: ビル・マネー), a transfer student from America who appears only once in the 2005 anime episode titled “Someone Even Richer than Suneo Showed Up.”

From the moment he arrives, Bill Money stuns the whole class with unbelievable wealth. When Suneo, the self-proclaimed “big shot” of the class, tries to brag about his model airplanes and villa, Bill immediately puts him in his place. While Suneo’s family travels by commercial plane, Bill owns his own private jet. That’s not all, he also has a private submarine and an entire castle! Bill’s wealth leaves Suneo speechless, and the look of disappointment on Suneo’s face when his boasting falls flat is genuinely hilarious.

In the episode, Suneo even borrows Doraemon’s “Future Check” gadget to spend lavishly, but after seeing his bleak future, he realizes that bragging doesn’t bring anything good. Bill Money, after a short time at school, moves away again due to his father’s job. Though his appearance is brief, his wealth leaves a lasting impression.

It’s fascinating that such a super-rich character like Bill ends up at Nobita’s ordinary school. A school that can “house” a tycoon like him certainly isn’t ordinary! But in the Doraemon universe, is there anyone richer than Bill Money? That question remains open.

Through this story, Doraemon cleverly reminds us that true wealth isn’t about showing off, but about humility and the value you bring to your friends. Suneo may have everything, but the moment he learns humility is when he becomes most endearing. In the end, in Nobita’s world, the greatest wealth is probably the friends who stick together through joys and hardships, a treasure money can’t buy.
