After 16 years as one of shojo manga’s brightest gems, Yona of the Dawn is approaching its conclusion, with the final chapter set to release on December 19, 2025. The series has enjoyed tremendous success, selling over 15 million copies to date. Now, this glorious journey is confirmed to be coming to an end.
The official announcement came through Hana to Yume magazine and from author Mizuho Kusanagi on her X account. Specifically, only three chapters remain before Yona of the Dawn concludes.
While fans still hope for a second season of the anime by Studio Pierrot, the manga’s sudden approach to its final chapters has disappointed many, as they expected the last arc to be more extended.
Yona of the Dawn to end in December 2025
The final arc began in June 2024, but there were few signs it would wrap up so quickly. Looking back, the recent hiatus from July to October 2025 was likely to give the author time to prepare the ending. Although the pace feels rushed, the last chapters promise to resolve all remaining storylines.
Mizuho Kusanagi confirmed this in a recent post on October 30, 2025, explaining that the decision was kept until the last moment, leaving fans waiting anxiously. She said, “The reason there are only three announcements left is because I made everyone wait until the very last minute to decide when to land. I’m truly grateful to all the editorial staff who supported me!”
Although fans may not be ready for this sudden ending, the story developments show the author has carefully crafted the final moments. Hak’s stubborn spirit remains despite seeming death, still refusing to break his promise to stay by Yona’s side. The fate of Yona’s allies remains uncertain up to chapter 273. Clearly, the last three chapters have been polished to deliver the most satisfying conclusion possible.
