Frieza is one of Dragon Ball’s most iconic villains. When he first appeared in Dragon Ball Z, he was the strongest being in Universe 7 without relying on technology, magic, or fusion forms. Although Saiyan warriors eventually surpassed him, Frieza kept returning with new levels of power, especially from Dragon Ball Super onward.
Beyond the main timeline, many other versions of Frieza appear in games, OVAs, and parallel universes within Dragon Ball. Here are the eight strongest Frieza forms, ranked from weakest to strongest.
8. Frieza in Fusion Reborn
Frieza’s appearance in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn is quite forgettable. After Hell was breached, many old villains returned to Earth. Frieza showed up but quickly became little more than a punching bag for Ultimate Gohan.
Gohan defeated Frieza with a single blow, which makes sense since the movie takes place after the Majin Buu Saga, when Ultimate Gohan was far stronger than Frieza during the Namek saga.
7. Ghost Warrior Frieza
In Dragon Ball Z: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Ghost Warrior Frieza is resurrected by Dr. Lychee using a supercomputer alongside villains like Cooler, Turles, and Lord Slug. This version can revive immediately after being defeated.
In the game adaptation, Ghost Warrior Frieza even evolves into Psycho Frieza, capable of fighting Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and Future Trunks all at once.
6. Xeno Frieza
From the Super Dragon Ball Heroes timeline, Xeno Frieza absorbs the One-Star Dragon Ball to boost his power. This energy turns him into an uncontrollable monster.
Xeno Frieza is strong enough to battle Xeno Goku in his base form, although he is eventually defeated by Xeno Future Trunks after losing focus.
5. Majin Frieza
In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, Babidi resurrects Frieza and Cell, turning them into his minions. Later, both break free from his control but retain the power boost similar to Majin Vegeta in the main story.
While exact strength is hard to gauge, Majin Frieza is believed to surpass his Namek form and approach the power level of the strongest characters in the Cell Saga.
4. GT Frieza
In Dragon Ball GT, Frieza does not come to Earth when Hell opens like many other villains. Instead, he teams up with Perfect Cell to ambush Goku in the afterlife.
Although stronger than before, GT Frieza still struggles against Goku, who easily defeats both Cell and Frieza in his base form.
Despite this, considering the time passed since Dragon Ball Z, this remains one of the strongest Frieza versions outside the main timeline.
3. Clone Frieza
In Dragon Ball FighterZ, Android 21 creates clones of famous fighters, including Frieza. Clone Frieza is based on data from Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, making him stronger than most other clones.
He can use all of Frieza’s abilities, including Golden Frieza. Although not matching the original’s full power, Clone Frieza is still a formidable opponent in the game.
2. Toei Anime Frieza
Toei’s Frieza appears throughout Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Compared to the manga, Toei’s anime often boosts characters’ power to more exaggerated levels, and Frieza is a prime example. Notably, Golden Frieza in the anime is significantly stronger than in the manga, playing a key role alongside Goku in wearing down Jiren during the Tournament of Power’s final battle.
Frieza’s performance in the anime’s Tournament of Power is also far more impressive than his manga counterpart.
1. Canon Frieza (Black Frieza)
Topping the list is the official manga version of Frieza from Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou.
In the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, Frieza discovers a Time Room and spends a full 10 years training inside. The result is his awakening of a brand-new form called Black Frieza.
Black Frieza’s power far exceeds all previous standards. He defeats Gas with a single strike and knocks out Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta almost instantly before they can react.
Currently, Black Frieza is considered the strongest mortal being in all of Dragon Ball and is almost certain to be the central villain when the Dragon Ball Super manga returns.
