As the wings of the future Pirate King, Sanji and Zoro are among the strongest crew members, and while their power gap seems minimal in the manga, the anime tells a very different story.

Sanji Fans Disappointed by Key Anime Moment
The scene in question from episode 1147 shows Sanji rescuing Bonney and Franky from Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, one of the Five Elders who arrived on the island. Seeing his friends in danger, Sanji charges forward and kicks the giant opponent, burning half of his massive body.
Although weaker than Nusjuro, Sanji’s perfect timing and fierce determination to save his friends while carrying the injured Vegapunk make this one of his most iconic moments in the Egghead Event arc of the manga.
While episode 1147 didn’t feature anything groundbreaking, its animation quality was considered fairly good for a weekly anime series. Given that One Piece is a long-running show, it’s unrealistic to expect every episode to match the high-quality animation of standout episodes like 1112, 1115, or 1136.
However, the disappointment mainly stems from fan expectations, as they hoped the studio would prioritize explosive moments when a main character like Sanji appears. Although intense scenes in One Piece aren’t always consistent, a few weeks ago episode 1141 portrayed Sanji realistically when he blocked a powerful attack from Admiral Kizaru.
