After the huge success of the first season, Netflix has officially set the Straw Hat crew’s return for March 10, 2026. Titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line, season 2 will take viewers into the perilous “pirate graveyard.” However, the spotlight right now is on a small but controversial change in Nico Robin’s look.

The 8-episode season will cover events from Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, to Drum Island, setting the stage for the Alabasta arc in season 3. Recently, a trailer focusing on Nico Robin, one of the series’ most beloved characters, revealed her official appearance. But eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed a costume change that challenges the original story’s logic.

The mysterious bracelet and Robin’s puzzling costume detail in One Piece live-action

Nico Robin live-action season 2 bracelet detail

In the original manga, when she was Crocodile’s right hand, Nico Robin always wore a bracelet marked with “BW,” short for Baroque Works. This made perfect sense since she operated under the codename Miss All Sunday at the time.

However, in Netflix’s trailer, Robin’s bracelet shows the letter “N,” the first initial of her real name, Nico. For viewers only watching the live-action, this might seem like a simple fashion choice. But for manga fans, it’s a change that disrupts the character’s established logic.

Why is this a major continuity issue?

Remember, Nico Robin spent 20 years on the run from the World Government after her homeland Ohara was destroyed. Gifted with the ability to read ancient texts, she was wanted with a huge bounty since she was eight years old and had to live under countless aliases to survive.

Throughout the Alabasta arc, her true identity was completely hidden under the name Miss All Sunday. It was only much later that the name “Nico Robin” was revealed, with her painful past fully exposed during the Enies Lobby arc, which takes place years after Alabasta.

For a seasoned fugitive desperate to conceal her identity, wearing an accessory with the first letter of her real name is a surprisingly naive choice that contradicts the survival instincts Eiichiro Oda built into her character.

Despite this small but debated design change, there’s no denying that the live-action Nico Robin still exudes her signature mysterious and alluring aura. With Oda’s supervision, fans hope Netflix will offer a reasonable explanation for this detail or simply treat it as a fun Easter egg for viewers.
