Early leaks for One Piece chapter 1189 have fans buzzing as Imu continues to dominate the Straw Hat crew. Not only does Imu corner Luffy, but the World Government’s supreme ruler also unveils a series of weapons originating from the mysterious Void Century.
Titled “King of the World,” chapter 1189 picks up right after Imu’s defeat of Luffy in the previous chapter. Before the intense scenes unfold, the cover page offers a humorous moment with Nami furious at Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji after the three are transformed into monkeys.

The mood quickly darkens as Imu reveals terrifying new cards.
According to leaks, Imu summons three of the 19 swords once wielded by the 20 founding kings of the World Government. These are ancient sacred treasures dating back to the Void Century, which Imu has secretly kept hidden until now.
The first weapon used is the Sea God Sword. Imu stabs this sword into Luffy’s body, right next to the sword already embedded from the previous chapter. This sword is said to have the power to nullify Devil Fruit abilities, putting Luffy in grave danger.
Imu doesn’t stop there. The Sword of Wrath is handed to Saint Sommers to face off against Zoro, while the Holy Command Spear is given to Killingham to attack Sanji.
These are only three of the 19 legendary weapons Imu holds, suggesting the World Government has been hiding a vast arsenal of ancient weapons for over 800 years.
The climax of the chapter reportedly comes when Imu prepares to finish Luffy off with the Xingtian Axe, a brand-new weapon also from the Void Century. Just as the attack is about to land, Scopper Gaban suddenly appears and blocks the blow, saving Luffy at the last moment.
Besides Imu’s display of power, chapter 1189 reveals several key story details.
Loki recalls a conversation with Shanks on the day King Harald died. In this memory, Red-Haired Shanks warns that the World Government has long been preparing for a great war, and Elbaf’s true enemy is not the Navy or the Five Elders, but the “King of the World.”
This suggests Shanks has known about Imu’s existence for a long time, even before many World Government secrets were uncovered.
Additionally, the ice imprisoning Gunko has melted, but she remains unconscious. Meanwhile, Usopp senses danger surrounding Luffy and activates his Observation Haki for the first time since the Dressrosa arc.
