For years, Jiraiya has been regarded as one of the strongest ninjas in the Naruto world thanks to the Sage Techniques of Mount Myoboku. However, Boruto now introduces a character who not only inherits that power but surpasses the legendary Toad Sage in every way: Kashin Koji.
Jiraiya’s legendary status came from his Sage Techniques

Jiraiya was one of the legendary Sannin, but few know that in his youth he was not highly regarded. After graduating from the Ninja Academy, he was placed on a team with Tsunade and Orochimaru, two standout prodigies of their generation. Compared to them, Jiraiya was seen as an average ninja.
His life changed completely when he was accidentally summoned backward in time to Mount Myoboku. At first, Jiraiya thought it was just a mishap, but it was actually part of a prophecy from the Great Toad Sage. According to the prophecy, Jiraiya would become the guide for the “Child of Prophecy,” the one destined to save the world from destruction. This was a heavy responsibility for someone as free-spirited as Jiraiya. Still, he trained relentlessly and eventually mastered the Toad Sage Techniques.
Thanks to this power, Jiraiya became one of the strongest ninjas in the world and earned widespread respect. Yet in Boruto, a new character has surpassed him.
Kashin Koji is an enhanced version of Jiraiya

Boruto introduces Kashin Koji as a mysterious member of the Kara organization. From his first appearance, Koji proved he was no ordinary ninja. His power was showcased early in the story. The shock deepened when his true identity was revealed: he is a clone created by Amado using Jiraiya’s DNA.
This surprised many, since even Kabuto couldn’t resurrect Jiraiya during the Fourth Great Ninja War. It’s likely Amado gathered leftover DNA from the place where Jiraiya died to create Kashin Koji.

Like Jiraiya, Koji was born for a special purpose. Amado created him to eliminate Jigen and end the threat posed by Kara’s leader. Knowing Jigen’s overwhelming power, Amado ensured Kashin Koji had the strength to complete this mission. One of Koji’s most notable abilities is his Sage Techniques.
Unlike Jiraiya, Kashin Koji uses a perfected version of the Sage Techniques. He doesn’t need to spend time gathering natural energy or rely on two toads perched on his shoulders. The Sage Techniques greatly enhance the power of all his attacks and boost his sensory abilities to nearly detect every incoming strike.
Beyond Sage Techniques, Koji wields Shinjutsu
Having perfected Sage Techniques is enough to surpass Jiraiya, but that’s not all of Koji’s power. Amado also enhanced Koji’s body with scientific ninja tools, enabling him to face Otsutsuki Isshiki, even though Isshiki was weakened at the time.
More importantly, Kashin Koji has Otsutsuki Shibai’s DNA implanted, granting him access to Shinjutsu. At first, Koji couldn’t fully use this power in battle. However, after a deadly fight with Isshiki, he awakened an ability called Ten Directions.
This Shinjutsu lets Koji see the future. Even more impressively, he can observe multiple possible timelines, allowing him to prepare strategies for different scenarios.
Additionally, Kashin Koji masters nearly all the ninjutsu Jiraiya once used, but with greater power and danger. He can also manipulate his hair to attack or bind opponents, although this skill is less effective against the strongest foes. His close combat skills and physical abilities surpass most characters ever seen in Naruto.
Kashin Koji remains a key figure in Boruto

Although he cannot defeat Jigen alone, Kashin Koji still plays a crucial role in the story.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex readers know Koji has become the new mentor for Uzumaki Boruto. This is seen as a tribute to Jiraiya, who once guided Naruto.
Koji may lack Jiraiya’s extensive experience, but his knowledge is vast. Most importantly, with his ability to see multiple futures, Kashin Koji can guide Boruto to make the right choices to prevent the apocalypse.
However, there is a major difference between Koji and Jiraiya.
Jiraiya always showed special affection for Naruto, caring for him like family. Understanding Naruto’s lonely upbringing, he tried to give him the best memories.
In contrast, Kashin Koji is more logical and detached. Still, it’s likely he will continue to support Boruto until his ultimate goal is achieved.
