Goku from Dragon Ball is a global pop culture icon, but he’s also clumsy and a bit simple-minded. While he has a pure heart and is always ready to sacrifice himself for others, he has some habits that can easily frustrate those around him. If Goku existed in the real world, he would quickly test the patience of almost everyone nearby.
1. Getting into trouble by trusting villains too easily
Goku is an optimist, which isn’t bad on its own, but he takes it to the extreme by forgiving villains in Dragon Ball way too quickly. He trusts people too easily and shows mercy even when they’ve clearly tried to kill him. Every time Goku forgives a villain, it only leads to more trouble for others.
Any realistic person would be furious watching Goku casually hand Senzu Beans to Cell and Moro, only for them to heal and cause even more damage. Goku’s tendency to see the good in others is touching in the anime but would be completely frustrating in real life.
2. Putting Earth in danger by holding back in fights
Goku prioritizes the fight itself over the outcome. He often holds back his power during battles just to test his opponent’s limits. However, this means he doesn’t try to eliminate threats as efficiently as possible.
If Goku acted like this in real life, people would be outraged because he’s blindly letting dangerous situations escalate.
Most people value their safety and want their loved ones protected. No one has time to watch Goku push limits and show off while the villain grows stronger every minute.
3. Bottomless appetite causing huge headaches
If Goku kept eating the enormous amounts of food he does in the anime, the people cooking for him would spend their entire lives just shopping and cooking. It’s a funny joke in the show, but in real life, people would be rightfully annoyed if Goku kept emptying the fridge nonstop.
4. Lacking any social filter
From childhood, Goku has been portrayed as socially awkward in Dragon Ball. As a kid, he once lifted Bulma’s skirt just to figure out if she was a boy or a girl. He even didn’t understand the concept of kissing, which has sparked heated debates among fans about how he ended up with two kids.
The only reason Goku’s marriage lasts is because he’s a fictional character. If he were a real person, he’d probably have been dumped long ago. His lack of social filter would also ruin his friendships.
5. Completely neglecting personal relationships
Goku may be a hero in Dragon Ball’s world, but he often neglects his duties as a husband and father. He has lost contact with his closest friends for years.
Goku has a long history of suddenly disappearing for years or even choosing to stay dead to keep training in the afterlife. He doesn’t have a steady job and was completely absent during Gohan and Goten’s upbringing.
While Goku isn’t held accountable for these things in the anime, in the real world, these traits would label him as irresponsible and selfish.
