Casting news for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece always excites fans. So when an AI-edited image of Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor as Boa Hancock surfaced online, social media quickly exploded. Fans shared the image widely, sparking rapid reactions and discussions across platforms.
However, the false casting rumors were quickly dismissed as no official confirmation came from the creators, Netflix, or Eiichiro Oda.
This confirms that these images were nothing more than an AI-generated prank aimed at teasing eager One Piece fans hungry for casting news on the live-action series.
One Piece Live-Action Season 2 Cast Confirmed
Netflix’s casting announcements for One Piece live-action are major events for fans and the streaming platform alike. These announcements immediately grab attention and quickly become trending topics online, especially for the upcoming second season.
The series is set to return on March 10, 2026, with nearly all main characters confirmed by Netflix:
Rigo Sanchez will play Monkey D. Dragon, Charithra Chandran is cast as Miss Wednesday (Vivi), and Sendhil Ramamurthy will portray Nefertari Cobra. Katey Sagal takes on Dr. Kureha, and Mark Harelik will play Dr. Hiriluk. Camrus Johnson is Mr. 5, with Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine.
David Dastmalchian will appear as Mr. 3. Werner Coester will play Dory, Brendan Murray is cast as Brogy, and Clive Russell will portray Crocus. Callum Kerr will be Smoker, Julia Rehwald takes on Tashigi, Joe Manganiello is Crocodile, and Lera Abova will play Nico Robin.
While these announcements came early, the reveal of other key characters like Ace, Chopper, and Bon Clay came later. Ace will be played by Cobra Kai actor Xolo Maridueña, Mikaela Hoover will voice Chopper, and Cole Escola will portray Bon Clay in season two.
Given the excitement these announcements have generated, it’s clear that the rumor about Shraddha Kapoor as Boa Hancock is fake.
Introducing Hancock Now Would Disrupt the Story
Another reason the Hancock casting rumor is false lies in her story timeline within One Piece. Hancock is officially introduced during the Amazon Lily arc, when Luffy is sent to the island by Bartholomew Kuma. From there, she becomes a key character expected to influence the final battle significantly.
Since season two of the live-action series will adapt the Alabasta Saga (excluding the Alabasta arc itself), casting Hancock now makes no sense. Her character does not appear anywhere in this part of the story, and introducing her prematurely would disrupt the natural flow of the plot.
While fans are eager to see this actress as Hancock, her introduction will have a much greater impact when the series reaches her actual story arc.
World-building is one of the most important aspects of One Piece, and like the anime, the live-action adaptation needs time to introduce characters and locations at the right moments. Hopefully, the live-action story will eventually reach the Amazon Lily arc, and we’ll see who fits the role of the Pirate Empress in One Piece.
