A new manga cover by Toyotaro unexpectedly features the silhouette of a mysterious woman beside Vegeta’s family, sparking fan speculation that the Saiyan prince’s mother may finally be revealed.
Is this the first hint of Vegeta’s mother?
One of Dragon Ball’s longest-standing mysteries might soon be answered. Since the passing of the original creator Akira Toriyama, the future of the Dragon Ball Super manga has remained uncertain. Still, artist Toyotaro continues to deliver fresh glimpses into the Saiyan world for fans.

Recently, Toyotaro created an alternate cover for Dragon Ball Super volume 19. The artwork focuses on Vegeta, Bulma, and their two children, Trunks and Bulla. The most intriguing detail lies in the reflection below.
In the reflection, King Vegeta appears alongside his two sons, Vegeta and Tarble. Standing next to them is a mysterious woman. Many fans immediately believe this figure to be Vegeta’s mother, or in other words, the Saiyan royal queen.
Toyotaro has not directly confirmed the identity of this character. However, his comments have only deepened fan curiosity. The artist mentioned he did not want to reveal anything and that the idea for this composition came unexpectedly during the creative process.
Toyotaro’s deliberate choice to include this female figure in the reflection has intensified speculation about Vegeta’s mother. If the theory is correct, this would be the first time such an important member of the Saiyan royal family has been visually introduced.
Vegeta’s family still holds many secrets

The Saiyan past has been significantly expanded in recent years. Previously, Dragon Ball Super: Broly introduced Gine, Goku’s biological mother, adding a key character to the main hero’s backstory.
The manga also delved into Saiyan history through flashbacks in the Granolah the Survivor arc. These stories help fans better understand Saiyan society before Planet Vegeta was destroyed by Frieza.
In Dragon Ball Z, Saiyans were mostly portrayed as a fierce warrior race focused on conquest and destruction. However, later additions reveal they were not solely ruthless fighters.
If Vegeta’s mother is officially confirmed, this character could unlock new insights into the Saiyan royal family, especially Vegeta’s upbringing before the planet’s destruction.
For now, Toyotaro has not officially confirmed the woman’s identity on the cover. Therefore, calling her Vegeta’s mother remains a fan theory.
When will Dragon Ball Super return?
Alongside the mystery of Vegeta’s mother, the future of the Dragon Ball Super manga is also a hot topic. Toyotaro has revealed preparations are underway for the manga’s return, though no official release date for new chapters has been announced.
The latest chapters brought the story to a point following Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Gohan showcased a new form in front of Goku, Vegeta, and Broly, while the threat from Frieza remains unresolved.
