Following the conclusion of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in 2024, Gege Akutami has expanded the story with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. This sequel is set about 70 years after the main events and introduces three new central characters: Yuka, Tsurugi, and Maru.
Although the story has moved into a completely different era, fans remain curious about Itadori Yuji’s fate. Modulo eventually brings Yuji back and confirms that he has become the strongest sorcerer in the world of jujutsu. However, this power does not grant Yuji the life he once hoped for.
Yuji’s one simple wish remains unfulfilled

From the very beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji had a simple wish: to die surrounded by the people he loves, honoring his grandfather’s last words.
At that time, Yuji’s fate seemed sealed. After consuming all of Sukuna’s fingers, he was expected to be executed to completely eliminate the Cursed King.
But events took an unexpected turn. Sukuna took over Megumi’s body, and Yuji ultimately defeated him. The key young characters survived, giving the main cast a relatively hopeful ending.
However, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo reveals that Yuji’s life after this victory is far from happy.
He has become the strongest, yet he no longer ages like a normal human. While those around him grow old and pass away, Yuji remains forever young.
Over decades, he attends funeral after funeral for loved ones. This relative immortality causes Yuji to grow distant from the living.
This stems from his unique body. Yuji was created by Kenjaku as the perfect vessel for Sukuna and absorbed the remaining Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. This special makeup nearly halts his aging process.
So even after living more than 80 years, Yuji still looks like a man in his early twenties.
Yuji plans to turn himself into a Cursed Object
Yuji’s tragedy doesn’t end with outliving his loved ones.
In the future, Yuji and Maru use Mahito to carry out an extreme plan: intervening in the souls of those not yet born. Their goal is to eliminate future problems related to Cursed Energy so humans can live and die of old age without facing jujutsu threats.
This means Yuji could become the last sorcerer left when the new era passes.
Yuji also understands the future is unpredictable. If new threats arise, humanity will still need ways to defend itself. The appearance of aliens in the future proves that seemingly impossible things can happen.
Therefore, Yuji begins preparing the next generation. He teams up with Nobara to gather and craft as many Cursed Tools as possible, ensuring future humans can still fight if new dangers emerge.

The most notable plan is Yuji’s desire to turn himself into a Cursed Object, similar to Sukuna. His aim is for someone in the future to absorb this object and gain the power Yuji possesses.
Sukuna’s experience shows that becoming a Cursed Object doesn’t mean complete death. Yuji’s consciousness could continue to exist within his Innate Domain.
This suggests that the roughly 300 years Yuji expects to live among humans might only be the beginning of a long, lonely existence.
So far, Gege Akutami has not confirmed what will happen to Yuji in the next 300 years. However, the door remains open for new stories.
If the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise continues far into the future, a sci-fi tale about a descendant who accidentally swallows Yuji’s finger and teams up with him to restore forgotten Cursed Energy could be a promising direction.
Whatever path the Jujutsu Kaisen future takes, one truth remains unchanged: Yuji has become the strongest, yet the simplest wish his grandfather made for him will never come true.
