For the first time ever, Vietnam will be the main setting in a special episode of the legendary anime series Doraemon. This isn’t just a brief cameo but a full journey exploring the S-shaped land with Nobita and friends.
To celebrate Shizuka’s birthday and promote the 45th Doraemon movie, the gang will visit Hoan Kiem Lake, Ha Long Bay, and Dragon Bridge in the newest episode.
A meaningful birthday gift and top-notch promotion
According to official information from the Doraemon brand website, the special episode titled “The Gift of a Trip to Vietnam” will premiere at 3 PM on May 23, 2026 (Vietnam time). This is part of the “Doraemon Around the World” project, following visits to Thailand and Spain.
The episode serves a dual purpose: celebrating Shizuka’s birthday month and perfectly promoting the 45th cinematic masterpiece, Doraemon: New Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea, which is set to release in Vietnamese theaters on May 22.

When the “Magic Door” breaks and Nobita’s challenging journey
The story begins with Shizuka’s wish to visit Vietnam. Determined to surprise her with a birthday gift, Nobita plans a dream trip. But just at the crucial moment, the “Magic Door” breaks down and needs repairs.
Refusing to give up, Doraemon and Nobita scramble to find alternative ways to get the group to Vietnam. This mishap leads to both hilarious and touching moments, showing Nobita’s deep feelings for Shizuka.
Vietnam’s iconic landmarks shine in full HD anime
Fans in Vietnam are most excited to see famous landmarks featured. From the historic Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, the majestic Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh, to the modern, vibrant Dragon Bridge in Da Nang, all are beautifully recreated in Japan’s signature anime style.

Notably, promotional images of Shizuka and Doraemi gracefully wearing traditional ao dai, alongside Doraemon and Nobita sporting conical hats, quickly went viral on social media. Gadgets like the “Translation Banh Mi” will also be fully utilized during the trip. Additionally, a coloring contest called “Decorate with Chan Chi” themed around Vietnamese travel will be held simultaneously in both countries to boost the festive atmosphere.

Don’t miss the premiere at 3 PM on May 23 on the Pops Kids YouTube channel (dubbed version) to join Nobita and friends on their adventure through Vietnam!
