After much anticipation, HBO has officially released the first teaser for the decade’s most ambitious project: the Harry Potter remake TV series. This short but emotional clip offers the first real glimpse of the new generation trio, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, marking a return to Hogwarts 16 years after the final film ended.
A faithful adaptation down to every detail
Confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), this series is not a new concept but a “fully faithful” adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s original books. Each season will cover one book in full, promising to include details that the films had to cut due to time constraints.
In the teaser released on March 25, 2026, fans were moved to see Harry’s life with the Dursleys, including the infamous cupboard under the stairs. The series also reveals never-before-seen scenes of Harry at his Muggle school before entering the wizarding world. The moment Harry and Hagrid board the London Underground to Diagon Alley ignited excitement across film forums.

Introducing the legendary characters of the new generation

The highlight of the teaser is the appearance of key characters. Although brief, the portrayals of Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Ollivander, and Draco Malfoy show HBO’s serious commitment to casting.

Notably, the new “Golden Trio” made a striking debut aboard the Hogwarts Express. HBO also released close-up production photos showcasing a visual style that feels both familiar and modern, fitting today’s cinematic TV standards.
A decade of magic begins Christmas 2026

CEO David Zaslav confirmed the series will run for seven seasons, each covering one book. “We worked closely with J.K. Rowling in London. Both sides are thrilled to revive this brand on the Max platform,” Zaslav shared.
Despite earlier rumors of delays, HBO has finalized that the first season, consisting of eight episodes, will premiere at Christmas 2026. This is the biggest gift for “Potterheads” worldwide, kicking off a promising decade in the wizarding world.
