Ryomen Sukuna is the main antagonist and the greatest terror in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. After turning himself into 20 cursed fingers during the Heian era, he awakened in the modern world through his vessel, Itadori Yuji. Throughout the series, we’ve seen Sukuna shift through various forms, from awakening with just one finger to fully reincarnating.
Although Sukuna remains a “disaster-level threat” in any form, his power and control over his vessel vary greatly at each stage. Let’s rank Sukuna’s forms based on their achievements and impact!
6. Sukuna in Yuji’s Body (1 Finger)

When Yuji swallowed the first finger, Sukuna immediately took over his body. His first act was admiring the wonders of the new era, where “prey” (humans) roam freely for him to slaughter.
However, the fun was short-lived when Satoru Gojo appeared. Sukuna was quickly defeated and taught a harsh lesson about the gap in power. At this one-finger stage, Sukuna was just a shadow of his former self, not strong enough to face the strongest modern sorcerers.
5. Sukuna in Yuji’s Body (3 Fingers)

After Yuji’s crushing defeat by a Special Grade in prison, Sukuna took control. This was our first glimpse of his Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine. Even in this modest showcase, Sukuna easily dispatched a Special Grade with the power of just two fingers.
After swallowing the third finger, he planned to massacre Yuji’s friends, starting with Megumi. However, Yuji regained control just in time. Sukuna later admitted that if Megumi had summoned Mahoraga then, the three-finger Sukuna would have been finished.
4. Sukuna in Yuji’s Body (15 Fingers, Shibuya Incident)

During the Shibuya arc, with support from Jogo and Nanako, Sukuna reached 15 fingers. This was when the Cursed King truly unleashed his power. He toyed with Jogo, a Special Grade fire curse, and finished him off with a missile-like attack.
His most impressive feat at this stage was defeating Mahoraga, the Zenin clan’s invincible Shikigami. Sukuna’s Domain Expansion had grown massive, leveling a large part of Shibuya and leaving no survivors.
3. Sukuna in Megumi’s Body (Full Reincarnation)

After the “god vs god” battle with Gojo Satoru, Sukuna began fully reincarnating into his original form. He now has four arms, two mouths, and a towering physique larger than any character seen before. Hajime Kashimo described this form as “perfect and beautiful” for a warrior.
He can deploy his Domain Expansion while keeping two arms free to fight and can continuously cast cursed techniques without interrupting communication. Although physically powerful, this form ranks below number two because Sukuna was significantly weakened after his fight with Gojo.
2. Sukuna in Megumi’s Body (20 Fingers + Ten Shadows)

This is the most terrifying version we’ve seen so far. By possessing Megumi, a vessel without strong resistance like Yuji, Sukuna gained true freedom.
He executed a plan to shatter Megumi’s soul by killing his own sister. With power equivalent to 20 fingers (after consuming more fingers and the mummy’s head), Sukuna not only mastered slicing cursed techniques but also controlled the Ten Shadows technique. Commanding and taming Mahoraga to exploit Gojo’s Infinity was the key to his victory over the Six Eyes.
1. Ryomen Sukuna in the Heian Era

At the height of the Heian era, Sukuna was a spiritual entity symbolizing destruction. With four arms, four eyes, a giant frame, and an extra mouth on his abdomen, he was not just a cursed spirit but a god of horror.
No sorcerer or clan could stop him back then. Sukuna slaughtered the two largest clans of the time and forced the world to worship him out of fear. If Jujutsu Kaisen were set in the Heian period, it would be a survival horror story rather than a typical shonen. Absolute power, ruthless mentality, and invulnerability made Heian Sukuna the ultimate peak.
Conclusion: Sukuna’s strength lies not only in his massive cursed energy but also in his tactical sharpness and predatory instincts. In any form, he proves the saying: “The strongest is the most ruthless.”
