After a month-long wait, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is back with chapter 36, instantly stirring excitement among fans. This new chapter not only pushes the story forward significantly but also puts two of the most beloved characters, Uchiha Sarada and Shikamaru, in grave danger, setting the stage for events that could change the entire manga landscape.
Following the battle with Mamushi, recent chapters have expanded the setting and revealed new mysteries. One key development is Sarada’s worsening eyesight after awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan, raising serious concerns about her future combat abilities.
In the previous chapter, Boruto revealed a plan to use Sarada as bait to lure out Code. However, things quickly went off course.
Meanwhile, another threat is quietly growing within the Hidden Leaf Village. Kobu, a political figure who has long been suspicious of Boruto, continues to investigate Shikamaru’s actions. He believes Shikamaru is secretly aiding Boruto and has branded him a traitor.

In chapter 36, Kobu meets with the Konoha elders and recounts how he nearly died at Mamushi’s hands before Boruto saved him. Instead of feeling grateful, Kobu suspects the entire incident was part of Boruto’s plan.
Kobu goes further by officially proposing Shikamaru’s removal as Hokage. He reveals this petition has been sent to the Fire Country’s Lord and is awaiting a final decision.
Shikamaru himself seems unconcerned about losing the Hokage title. However, if he is labeled a traitor and stripped of leadership, all his covert efforts to support Boruto against the Divine Tree could collapse.
While the threat to Shikamaru is serious, the chapter’s final moments deliver an even bigger shock for Sarada.
Following Boruto’s plan, Sarada was meant to be bait to draw out Code. But Code quickly saw through the trap and struck back unexpectedly. Instead of falling into the ambush, he kidnaps Sarada and vanishes without a trace.
This development is especially alarming since Sarada has yet to fully master the Mangekyo Sharingan, while Code remains one of the story’s most dangerous foes.

Tensions rise further as Kashin Koji uses his prophetic abilities to foresee a terrifying future. In this vision, Boruto must tap into his Otsutsuki form to rescue Sarada.
This detail carries weight because every time Boruto uses Otsutsuki power, the risk of Momoshiki taking over his body grows. That means the rescue mission not only endangers Sarada’s life but could also cause Boruto to lose control of himself entirely.
