But by the time of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the old order has been disrupted. Since losing his Rinnegan in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 53, Sasuke has been significantly weakened. His status as the strongest living Uchiha is now at risk.
However, the Uchiha bloodline lives on, with Sarada finally ready to succeed Sasuke in Boruto.
Sasuke’s Successor Begins to Rise in Boruto
Uchiha Sarada carries a huge responsibility if she wants to become Hokage: she must match or surpass the greatness of Sasuke and Naruto to lead the village. Although she has demonstrated the signature techniques of the Uchiha clan, she still lacked one crucial element.
Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan was only fully awakened and mastered in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 21. This unlocked her unique Orihime technique. Similar to Sasuke’s Amaterasu, Orihime doesn’t use immortal flames but instead harnesses gravitational black holes capable of erasing the Thorn Soul, the biggest current threat. This is the power Sasuke hinted at in chapters 5 and 21.
“She will finally realize it, along with an instinctive understanding of her abilities and what she can do,” Sasuke Uchiha said in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 21.
Sasuke explains that he is training Boruto to face a threat only Boruto and Sarada can handle. Currently, with Claw Grimes having captured and consumed Sasuke, Hidari now aims to devour Sarada. Defeating Hidari and reclaiming his Thorn Soul Bulb will not only save Sasuke but also prove Sarada’s worth as the strongest Uchiha.
Beyond Sasuke taking Boruto as his student, the early events of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex deeply impact Sarada. Boruto’s sudden rejection and the clear threat to his life triggered Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan before the timeskip, but her self-doubt held her back.
Sasuke has clearly accepted his current situation, even while imprisoned in Boruto with only one healthy arm and eye (his Rinnegan was taken by Kawaki). To some extent, Sasuke has been preparing the new generation to inherit his legacy, especially considering Sarada’s dreams.
Sarada Could Achieve What No Uchiha Has Before
Surprisingly, the Uchiha clan has never produced a Hokage. With the past tensions between Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama, followed by the war against the entire Uchiha clan after Kurama’s attack, Sarada now has the chance to achieve a first in the series.
Ultimately, even Sasuke supports Sarada becoming Hokage, a position he himself could never reach. He sees her potential and hopes she will be recognized as Konoha’s champion.
