The third season of One Punch Man has finally kicked off, and alongside Saitama, the character fans are most eager to see is Garou, the main antagonist of this season. Throughout the series, Garou has undergone many transformations, but his ultimate form is known as the “Cosmic Fear.” Unfortunately, fans will not get to witness this terrifying form in season 3.
Garou’s ultimate form will be the big highlight for season 4
One Punch Man season 3 has been confirmed to have a total of 12 episodes. Considering the manga’s storyline, it’s almost certain the anime won’t reach the final climax this season.
Currently, the anime is focusing on the Monster Association arc, the longest arc in the series. This arc began in season 2 and will take up most of season 3’s runtime. However, season 3 still won’t reach the point where Garou interacts with God and attains his ultimate form.
This form is called Cosmic Fear Garou, revealed in the latter half of the Monster Association arc. Its power is said to rival Saitama’s, a comparison that One Punch Man fans know is no small feat.
Because of this, the Cosmic Fear form won’t appear until the next season. It could become a major dramatic moment at the end of season 3, building intense excitement for One Punch Man season 4.
How powerful and terrifying is Cosmic Fear Garou?
Garou’s “Cosmic Fear” state is essentially described as an endless void of stars and galaxies, giving him a menacing presence. His power is on a completely different level compared to previous villains.
When still human, Garou had knowledge of energy flow through martial arts techniques he learned. This ability greatly increased in his Cosmic Fear form, granting him understanding of all types of energy and power in the universe. He then applies all this knowledge in a technique called the All Life Eradication Fist.
In Cosmic Fear mode, Garou can mimic the faces and techniques of his enemies, based on the principle of Shakkei, a martial arts technique involving imitating living creatures’ behaviors. Garou calls this technique “Modes.”
Saitama was the first “victim” of this ability when Garou used “Saitama Mode” to mimic his consecutive normal punches. Not only does Garou imitate the moves, but his power level is said to be on par with the original. This is shown by Garou being able to keep up with Saitama during their fight using these repeated punches.
Besides enhanced martial skills, Garou can generate nuclear energy. This power is demonstrated through his Nuclear Fission attack, a punch surrounded by nuclear energy that creates a massive explosion like an atomic bomb.
However, even in this form, Garou is still no match for a serious Saitama. Still, the fact that Garou is mentioned alongside Saitama shows just how terrifying and impressive his transformation truly is.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait several more years to see Garou’s Cosmic Fear mode animated. Nevertheless, season 3 promises many other thrilling developments that will keep fans entertained while they wait.
