A decade after the anime ended, the hit franchise Assassination Classroom is stirring excitement worldwide with the announcement of a brand-new movie project. A dramatic trailer has just dropped, showcasing thrilling action scenes and promising storylines.
The Paradox: A Beloved Hit in Japan, Yet Banned in the US
Yusei Matsui, who recently finished The Elusive Samurai on Shonen Jump earlier this year, remains best known for his previous work, Assassination Classroom, which sparked intense debate in the United States.
Despite a large fanbase, the manga holds the unfortunate record as the most banned manga in the US. Over the years, it has been repeatedly removed from libraries and schools across several states due to sensitive content involving students attempting to assassinate their teacher, even if he is an alien.
Regardless of these controversies in the West, “Teacher Koro” continues to captivate fans in Japan and across Asia. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the manga and original anime’s conclusion, producers have decided to bring the franchise back to the big screen as a tribute to loyal fans.
New Trailer and Stellar Team Return
The feature film titled Assassination Classroom The Movie: Our Time has released its final trailer ahead of the premiere. Fans can rest assured as the original TV anime’s staff and voice cast are all returning.
The voice cast includes Kikuko Inoue (Azusa), Mai Fuchigami (Hotaru & Nagisa), Sayumi Suzuhiro (Kaho Tsuchiya), Yuichiro Umehara (Seeker), along with other notable names like Kappei Yamaguchi and Kazuhiro Yamaji.
Director Masaki Kitamura leads the project at Studio Lerche, the studio behind the TV series’ success. The screenplay is written by Makoto Uezu, with character designs by Aya Higami.
The film’s theme song, “Teacher,” will be performed by Sora Tomonari, promising an emotional impact.
A Fresh Storyline
Unlike many anime movies that simply rehash old content, Assassination Classroom The Movie: Our Time is confirmed by Yusei Matsui as an official sequel continuing the original story.
“Although the anime’s ending was very satisfying, this film will present a completely new story that fans have never seen before,” a producer shared.
The movie will adapt never-before-seen side stories and expand on new adventures, making it a substantial package worthy of the 10-year wait for devoted fans.
