Chapter 210 reveals that the War Devil regained its true power after the existence of nuclear weapons was exposed again, reigniting the fear of war. With this explosive strength, Yoru (the name given to the War Devil after possessing Asa Mitaka’s body) single-handedly captured the Falling Devil, a previously unbeatable enemy.
However, what truly solidifies Yoru’s position as the potential final villain isn’t just her overwhelming power, but her true goal, revealed by the Death Devil in the latest chapter. She tells Denji that the War Devil, now empowered, is hunting devils with the ultimate aim of turning Denji into a weapon to erase the Death Devil’s existence.
The Death Devil explains that if she dies, the concept of death will cease to exist, and with humans unable to die, the War Devil intends to maintain an eternal world war. Since devils grow stronger by spreading fear tied to their concepts, this revelation firmly positions the War Devil as the final villain, with ambitions even more terrifying than the typical world domination goals of clichéd antagonists.
Still, there’s a possibility the Death Devil is lying and remains the true final villain, using this claim to manipulate Denji. At this stage, either could be the final villain of Chainsaw Man, as both remain shrouded in mystery. This makes watching whether Denji can finally break free from his recurring curse of being manipulated all the more compelling as the story concludes.
