Jujutsu Kaisen has just launched its exciting follow-up, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and fans are thrilled. In the very first chapter, there is plenty to explore: from the romance between Yuta and Maki to the concept of aliens living alongside sorcerers. Beyond the story itself, the opening chapter also includes intriguing hidden details, featuring subtle nods to Hunter x Hunter and One Piece.
Gege Akutami References One Piece and Hunter x Hunter

In Chapter 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, readers meet the main trio: Yuka, Tsurugi (Yuta and Maki’s grandchild), and the impersonator Maru. They begin investigating a series of child kidnappings in Kyoto. Notably, in one scene, the villain is playing a game, and in the lower right corner, an open manga panel reveals a mysterious frame hinting at not only One Piece but also Hunter x Hunter, two series that Gege Akutami deeply admires.
The hidden detail is a classic panel from the first chapter of One Piece, where Shanks hands his straw hat to Luffy after saving him. What makes it special is that Gon from Hunter x Hunter humorously replaces Luffy in this frame.
If this were another creator, it might be dismissed as coincidence. However, Gege Akutami is well known as a passionate Hunter x Hunter fan. The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga also drew inspiration and included numerous references to that work, making this detail especially meaningful.
Hidden Zoro Reference Also Included

The One Piece references don’t stop there. Later in Chapter 1 of Modulo, fans get a glimpse of Tsurugi’s training routine. He is lifting a stack of weight plates on one end of a barbell, a humorous image that clearly recalls how Roronoa Zoro trains.
Overall, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is shaping up to be a promising series, not only through its story and characters but also with these clever hidden details that delight fans.
