Marriagetoxin set to premiere in 2026 with a top-tier production team
Marriagetoxin, created by Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda, has been a major hit on Shonen Jump+ since its launch in 2022. It is now officially the latest manga from the popular platform to receive an anime adaptation, following the global successes of titles like Kaiju No. 8 and Spy x Family.
To celebrate the announcement, Marriagetoxin quickly released its first striking trailer and poster. Fans finally get a clear, vivid look at the series’ world filled with intense action, deadly stakes, and a touch of romance.
Marriagetoxin is scheduled to premiere around 2026, though the exact release date has yet to be announced. The anime will be directed by Motonobu Hori at Bones studio, known for works like Gachiakuta and My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
The production team is impressive, with Kimiko Ueno handling the script, Kohei Tokuoka as chief animation director, and composers Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi creating the music. The lead roles will be voiced by Haruki Ishiya as Hikaru Gero and Shion Wakayama as Mei Kinosaki.
The anime’s storyline is revealed in a press release: “For centuries, deadly techniques have been perfected by masters known as Poison Masters, especially the Five Great Clans. Hikaru Gero, heir to the Gero Clan, has lived his life in the shadows, avoiding love and marriage. But when the clan head orders Hikaru’s sister to bear an heir to continue their bloodline, Hikaru is determined to protect her at all costs.”
The story continues as Hikaru meets Mei Kinosaki, a skilled marriage swindler who becomes the target of his latest mission. Realizing that the only way to secure the clan’s future and protect his sister is through marriage, Hikaru impulsively enlists Mei’s help to find a bride. The appeal lies in the blend of romantic moments and deadly action.
