Solo Leveling Season 3 is one of the most anticipated anime adaptations from manhwa. However, while fans hope A-1 Pictures will soon announce the new season, the reality is far less optimistic. A key figure behind the show recently revealed that Season 3 is still a long way from release.
Solo Leveling Producer Confirms Extended Wait
After Solo Leveling’s first season premiered in January 2024 and the second in January 2025, fans are growing increasingly concerned about the anime’s future. During a recent Q&A, producer Sôta Furuhashi shared the massive workload involved in creating the first two seasons. He admitted that speculation about Season 3’s release might not be resolved until after the next Olympic Games.
When asked about the upcoming season, Furuhashi called it the toughest question he received: “I think that’s the hardest question I’ve gotten tonight. More than anyone, I’m excited for Season 3! But the truth is, between Season 1 and Season 2, we created 220,000 animation frames. And of course, I want to give the animators some time to rest. So if it were me, I’d say wait until the next Olympics to see what happens with Season 3.”
Although fans hoped A-1 Pictures would announce Season 3 soon, that now seems unlikely. Furuhashi didn’t clarify whether he meant the 2026 Winter Olympics or the 2028 Summer Olympics. Either way, a 2026 release for Solo Leveling Season 3 appears extremely unlikely.
Quality Remains the Top Priority
A-1 Pictures always prioritizes quality above all else. This delay will ultimately benefit the show. Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini also pointed out that the delay is due to growing industry demands: “Creators want to make a lot of shows. Anime is really popular, so there’s a huge demand, and we have to find the right time to start the next season.”
Regardless, the announcement and release of Solo Leveling Season 3 will be a major event for the anime industry. While the wait is long, fans can enjoy reading the manhwa or rewatching Seasons 1 and 2 in the meantime.
