Released with all 8 episodes on Netflix on March 10, One Piece has sparked a huge buzz on social media. While fans are still catching up on the Straw Hat Pirates’ new adventure, all eyes are on Arata Mackenyu, the actor playing the pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro. Images of him have quickly gone viral, showing a look that seems to have stepped right out of the manga, featuring a sharply handsome face and a chiseled, muscular physique.

Compared to the original manga, Arata Mackenyu is arguably the perfect choice to play Roronoa Zoro. One standout moment is Mackenyu standing with his arms crossed on the ship, showcasing his broad shoulders and defined arm muscles under the sunlight. His confident presence, striking good looks, and impressive physique with bulging biceps and a defined six-pack have fans completely captivated. Many came for the show but stayed because of Zoro’s portrayal, praising the actor’s body as that of a true warrior, even more muscular and toned than fans imagined from the manga.

Under posts sharing Arata Mackenyu’s masculine images, fans couldn’t help but comment: “How can anyone look away?”, “How did he build those muscles?”, “Oh my god, how is this even real?”, “Beautiful from anime to live-action, I’m hooked”, “So true to the original, loved by both women and men”, “Thank God, this Zoro is a god”…
Beyond his looks and swordsmanship aura, Arata Mackenyu surprised viewers with his action scenes in the new One Piece season. The highlight is a 15-minute fight sequence in episode 3 where Zoro single-handedly battles hundreds of Baroque Works agents. According to Netflix, Mackenyu revealed he had only 6 hours to learn all the fight choreography before filming. He described it as one of the biggest challenges of his career due to the intense moves and tight schedule. Still, thanks to his martial arts background and action acting experience, Mackenyu pulled off the scene smoothly.

Born in 1996, Arata Mackenyu is already familiar to fans of manga adaptations. He is the son of Japanese martial arts legend Sonny Chiba and has trained in martial arts since childhood, making him well-suited for demanding action roles. In One Piece, he plays Roronoa Zoro, a swordsman famous for his Three-Sword Style and the trusted right hand of captain Monkey D. Luffy on their quest to conquer the seas.

The new season follows the Straw Hats as they venture deeper into dangerous seas in search of the legendary treasure One Piece. This arc takes them into the Grand Line, the most perilous and mysterious pirate waters, where they face stronger enemies and tougher challenges. Along the way, the crew visits new locations like Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island, meeting key new characters such as Vivi and Chopper. Each stage tests their dreams and trust, forcing them to unite as they continue their journey to become the Pirate King.
