Boruto: Two Blue Vortex continues to deliver thrilling content for fans, including epic battles and surprising twists. Yet, what most fans eagerly await is the return of the legendary Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke.
Everyone knows these two are the most important characters in the series, regardless of who the main character in Boruto is. Many fans feel the lack of respect shown to them by Ikemoto, Boruto’s artist, is unacceptable.
Unfortunately, things seem to be getting worse for Uzumaki Naruto based on the story’s direction. It appears that when Naruto returns, he will no longer serve as Hokage, a truly sad and shocking development for the community that has followed his journey for so long.
Why Won’t Naruto Become Hokage Again?
Naruto Uzumaki is still very young. According to Boruto’s timeline, Naruto is only 31 years old and currently trapped in Daikokuten, a place where time does not pass. This technically makes Naruto at least 2.5 years younger than Sasuke or even younger. At this age, Naruto should be at the peak of his strength and abilities. So whenever he returns, he remains the most deserving and experienced leader for the village as Hokage.
However, Boruto’s story has never truly cared about logic when it comes to Naruto and the previous generation’s characters. It does whatever it wants and will likely continue on this path.
The biggest and most understandable reason Naruto won’t be Hokage again is that he won’t return before the series ends. As fans have seen in the flashback at the start of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, during the fight between Kawaki and Boruto (set far in the future), Naruto is still sealed away. It’s very likely Naruto will only come back near the story’s conclusion. This means others will have to take over the Hokage role during his absence.
Konoha Will Be Led by Successive Hokage
Fans should note that before Boruto ends, two other characters will inevitably become Hokage. This is one of the biggest reasons Naruto may never be Hokage again.
Konohamaru Sarutobi will become the Eighth Hokage:
The first is none other than Sarutobi Konohamaru. He has wanted to be Hokage since he was a child and will surely achieve it. Unfortunately, despite his potential, Konohamaru is seen as weak, and Boruto has treated him with little respect, failing to develop his strength as fans expected. He will officially become Konoha’s Eighth Hokage, which many fans find disappointing given the high hopes for the Third Hokage’s grandson.
Sarada Uchiha will become the Ninth Hokage:
Sarada Uchiha will ultimately become Konoha’s Ninth Hokage. Her dream has always been to become Hokage, and Boruto’s story wouldn’t feel complete without her stepping into this role. Otherwise, her entire character arc and development would feel wasted.
Considering that two Hokage must take office before Boruto ends and Naruto only returns at the very last moment, fans may never see him lead Konoha again as the Seventh Hokage in the main timeline. This is a tragic ending for one of the Leaf Village’s greatest heroes.
