Chainsaw Man Part 2 Ends with a Shocking Twist

It seems the time for Denji to say goodbye is near. Following the huge success of the first season anime and the Reze Arc movie project by Studio MAPPA, Chainsaw Man remains at the center of fans’ attention. However, a recent announcement from creator Tatsuki Fujimoto has stunned the fan community. Part 2 of the series will officially end after just one more chapter.

(Warning: The following contains major spoilers for chapter 231).

A shocking twist in chapter 231

The final chapter of Part 2 is confirmed to release on March 24, 2026. After the wild events of chapter 231, the world of Chainsaw Man stands on the brink of destruction or a painful rebirth.

In the latest developments, with death eliminated, the world has been invaded by endless swarms of insects. As Denji finds himself trapped, a conversation between him and Pochita inside his subconscious completely changes the situation. Pochita reveals that their dream life has ended. In one of the most shocking moments in the entire series, the Chainsaw Devil pulls out its own heart and declares, “I will devour myself.”

What if the Chainsaw Devil never existed?

Pochita commits suicide and tells Denji to “keep dreaming” before everything fades into darkness. The last page of chapter 231 shows an old shack, the place where it all began.

The most shocking theory right now is that if the Chainsaw Devil devours itself, the energy to erase its existence will activate. This means the Chainsaw Devil would have never existed in history.

If this theory comes true, the timeline will be completely erased. What would the world be like without the Chainsaw Devil? How would Denji’s life change if he had never met Pochita? Would he still be drowning in debt, or would he live a normal but hopeless life?

Will there be a Part 3?

Erasing the old timeline could be Fujimoto’s way to reset the entire story. If Chainsaw Man Part 3 is confirmed, it will likely have a completely different tone from the first two parts. Fans are holding their breath for March 24 to see if this marks the end of Denji’s journey or the beginning of a darker new era.
