One Piece 1176 Reveals Shocking Truth About Domi Reversi Curse

New details from One Piece 1176 shed light on the God Valley tragedy and how to break the Domi Reversi curse.

Chapter 1176 of One Piece delivers a shocking revelation. The only way to save victims of the Domi Reversi curse is to… end their lives. Once the demon form is destroyed, the victim returns to their original state.

However, this discovery raises a major question about the God Valley tragedy. Why did the Davy family under Rocks D. Xebec actually perish?

1. Was Rocks’ attack too brutal?

At Elbaph, we saw Dorry and Brogy recover quickly after being “freed” through death. But Rocks’ condition in chapter 1166 was very different. After breaking free from Domi Reversi, Rocks collapsed, completely exhausted.

There are two theories here. First, Rocks was already severely injured before transforming (he was pierced by Imu’s tentacle). Second, and most importantly, the powerful Conqueror’s Haki strikes from Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp were overwhelming.

Rocks was known for coating his sword with Conqueror’s Haki, strong enough to bring down Figarland Garling. It’s possible Rocks unleashed fatal blows that exceeded the human body’s limits, causing the Davy family to die permanently before they could recover, or he may have unintentionally kept attacking even after the curse was broken. This is a tragic scenario since Rocks himself came from that family.

2. The Davy family’s condition was already dire

An important detail appears with Brogy. His left arm was severed by Imu, but when transformed into the Domi Reversi demon, it regrew fully. However, as soon as the curse was broken, the old wound immediately reappeared.

This suggests that when freed from the curse, the body returns exactly to its state just before transformation. Remember God Valley: before turning into monsters, the Davy family was the main target of a brutal hunt. They likely carried fatal wounds. When the Domi Reversi curse vanished, their bodies reverted to that weakened state and couldn’t survive.

3. The role of Garling and the Holy Knights

Clues suggest Garling chose God Valley for the hunt because of the Davy family’s presence, those despised by Imu. If the goal was genocide, even if some Davy members recovered after Rocks’ attack, they likely couldn’t escape the Holy Knights’ blades as they scoured the island. Rocks may have left unaware that his own kin were slaughtered afterward.

4. A glimmer of hope: Could descendants still survive?

A more optimistic theory is that Rocks never knew that “killing to save” would break the curse. Amid the chaos at God Valley, some Davy family members might have recovered and escaped.

They could be among those saved by Bartholomew Kuma or secretly fled on refugee ships. If true, the Davy family isn’t completely wiped out, and their descendants may be hiding somewhere in the One Piece world, waiting to emerge and fulfill their ancestors’ legacy.
