Among the many unanswered questions about the Ancient Kingdom and the Void Century in One Piece, the Ancient Weapons remain the most mysterious, despite their crucial role in the story. The Egghead Arc revealed the devastating power of these weapons when Vegapunk explained they were responsible for sinking half of the One Piece world. Now, the series may have uncovered who created the Ancient Weapon Pluton.
One Piece Might Have Just Revealed Pluton’s Creators
In chapter 1154, Jarul and Harald introduce a massive group of giant shipwrights known as the Galleila tribe. This unusual organization reportedly includes over a hundred giants, some of them ancient giants, all of whom were captured by the World Government at some point.
As the name suggests, this Galleila tribe could very well be the origin of the Galley-La Company on Water Seven, possibly explaining why Pluton’s blueprints appeared on the shipwrights’ island. In fact, this giant group might not only have created Pluton but also another extremely important ship.
Although the two names differ in English, they sound almost identical, making their connection highly likely. Interestingly, in Japanese, the two words are written almost the same except for one character: Galley-La is “ガレーラ” while Galleila is “ガレイラ”. One Piece has previously played with similar-sounding names to mislead fans, like “Raftel” and “Laugh Tale”, or “Gold Roger” and “Gol D. Roger”.
It makes sense that the Galleila giants created Pluton for several reasons. First, Pluton is described as a powerful warship, and who better to build it than a legendary group of giant shipwrights? Just as the Fish-Men possess Poseidon, the giants could have been entrusted with Pluton, supporting the theory that each major race was given an Ancient Weapon.
More importantly, the Water Seven saga revealed the World Government’s long-standing efforts to obtain Pluton’s blueprints, which could explain why the Galleila tribe was captured and imprisoned. Additionally, as Iceburg revealed in chapter 344, Pluton was once built on Water Seven, and the blueprints might have been entrusted to the shipwrights there when the Galleila were taken.
How did the warship Pluton end up in Wano? A notable theory suggests it was transported there by an ancient giant. This could explain the mysterious existence of Onigashima, the giant skull-shaped island. We have seen ancient giants like Oars described as “continent movers,” so imagining a giant with a skull large enough to form Onigashima pulling a warship as massive as Pluton is entirely plausible.
It’s also possible the Galleila tribe built the ship Noah, though there’s little evidence to confirm this. However, considering Iceburg’s deep knowledge of the Ancient Weapons and Poneglyphs, he may have deliberately named Galley-La after the giant tribe to honor their legacy in his own way.
