In One Piece chapter 1182, a new concept sent chills through the fan community: the Rain God Zaza. More than just a new character in the Elbaph arc, Zaza’s appearance sparks theories about the legendary quartet of ancient gods first mentioned over 20 years ago.

Let’s explore five fascinating facts about this god who even the Celestial Dragons fear!

1. The Rain God was first mentioned back in the Skypiea Arc

Flashing back to Montblanc Noland and Kalgara’s memories on the sky island, the Shandia tribe once spoke of four supreme gods when they planned to sacrifice the girl Mousse to stop a plague: the Sun God, Rain God, Earth God, and Forest God.

At the time, this seemed like a local Skypiea legend, and the Shandia even mistook the giant serpent Kashigami as their deity. But now the Sun God has manifested through Nika (Luffy). The Earth and Forest Gods were referenced again in the Harley mural at Elbaph.

And now, the Rain God Zaza has officially appeared. This confirms these gods truly exist in One Piece’s ancient mythology, not just blind faith.

2. Zaza is the terror of those who live above the clouds

In chapter 1182, through Rimoshifu Killingham’s story, we learn an intriguing fact. The Celestial Dragons live in Mary Geoise, a holy land far above the rain clouds. Because of their isolated luxury, the concept of rain is alien, gloomy, and terrifying to them.

From this extreme fear, the image of the Rain God Zaza was born. To the Celestial Dragons, rain is not a natural phenomenon but a threat from the “world below.” Killingham admits he accidentally summoned Zaza, though he currently maintains temporary control over this entity.

3. Zaza’s current form is just a “nightmare”

In the latest chapter, Zaza appears as a female entity wearing a mask, with water hands and the power to unleash devastating floods. However, this might not be Zaza’s true form.

Similar to how Killingham created a “dark Nika” version from the nightmares of Elbaph’s children, Zaza’s current form is likely a projection of Killingham’s own fears. If the Rain God truly has a separate entity or devil fruit, the god’s real appearance would surely be very different.

4. The name Zaza has a fascinating meaning

Oda is famous for his clever wordplay. In Japanese, ザーザー (zaazaa) is an onomatopoeia describing heavy, continuous rain. Naming the god Zaza not only makes it memorable but also emphasizes the character’s defining power. This is similar to the name Nika, which is an onomatopoeia for a bright smile.

5. Could there be a Devil Fruit Model: Zaza?

Zaza’s arrival brings the list of gods in One Piece to life like never before. If Luffy wields the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika (Sun God), the big question is: does the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza exist?

If this theory holds true, the Final Saga won’t just be a battle between ordinary pirates but a clash of beings with ancient mythical powers. The One Piece world is gradually revealing spiritual depths we never imagined.
