The concept of “Gods” has always been an essential part of Eiichiro Oda’s storytelling. However, since the official reveal of the Sun God Nika, the significance of these entities has reached a whole new level. Notably, One Piece chapter 1182 from the Elbaph arc unveiled more shocking details about other gods.
Let’s take a look back at the origins, power rankings, and influence of the five gods introduced in One Piece so far!
5. Forest God

The Forest God was first mentioned in Skypiea but its true importance only emerged through the Harley texts. According to these, the Forest God is the origin of Devil Fruits, born from humanity’s desires. However, when humans used this power selfishly, the god weakened.
Many theories suggest that Imu currently holds the Forest God’s power for personal gain. While much remains mysterious, if the Forest God truly is the “creator” of all Devil Fruits, this entity’s status will surely rise by the story’s end.
4. Earth God

Also introduced through the Harley texts, the Earth God is described as the main rival to the Sun God in the First World. The Earth God’s wrath against human greed caused destruction alongside the Fire Serpent, believed to be the Red Line.
Loki is currently the strongest candidate to be the Earth God’s vessel, thanks to his snake-like eyes. Interestingly, Imu calling Nidhog a “traitor” in the latest chapter hints that Nidhog, once allied with the Earth God, has now switched allegiance to the Sun God.
3. Rain/Sea God

The Rain God and Sea God seem closely connected, both representing water. The latest chapter suggests they are actually the same entity, with the Sea God being another interpretation. Chapter 1181, titled “Zaza,” implies that those living on the Cloud Sea worship Zaza as the Rain God, while those below see the rain forming the seas as the Sea God.
The Celestial Dragons fear the Rain God more than anything except the Sun God and the D clan. With dominion over the seas, the Rain God could become a formidable force opposing Imu and his followers in the final battle.
2. Abyss God, Imu

Imu has proven to be a god-level entity, but one aligned with darkness rather than light. Representing the abyss and shadows, Imu wields magic capable of transforming living beings into other forms.
Sitting on the Empty Throne and possibly existing since the First World, Imu is the central antagonist of the final conflict. His power and influence are currently immeasurable.
1. Sun God, Nika

Without question, the Sun God Nika (Luffy) holds the top spot. He is the only god celebrated as a symbol of liberation and hope. Notably, theories suggest the Sun God is the only deity to have evolved from a human who “touched the sun.”
With Gear 5’s reality-bending abilities and his role in leading the world toward a new dawn, Nika is the most important entity throughout One Piece’s history.
