In the world of Dragon Ball, a fighter isn’t always strong enough to defeat an enemy on their own. When that happens, characters have to rely on their last resort: fusion.
Unlike simply adding power levels together, fusion creates an entirely new warrior with exponentially amplified abilities. Throughout the series, Dragon Ball has introduced various fusion methods, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
6. Namekian Fusion

This fusion method is exclusive to the Namekian race.
Without any dance or magical artifacts, one Namekian absorbs the life force, memories, and power of another to increase their strength. The most famous example is Piccolo merging with Nail on Planet Namek, then later fusing with Kami during the Android Saga.
What’s unique is that Piccolo’s personality remains intact after fusion. He stays himself but gains immense power, once considered the strongest warrior on Earth, even surpassing Super Saiyans at that time.
However, since this method only adds power between Namekians rather than multiplying it like Saiyan fusions, it ranks lowest on this list.
5. Absorption by Cell and Majin Buu

This is not a voluntary fusion but a forced power takeover.
Cell absorbed Androids 17 and 18 to reach his Perfect Form, but Majin Buu took absorption to another level by swallowing Gohan, Gotenks, and Piccolo.
Buu not only gains their power but also their fighting skills, experience, and special techniques. This made Buuhan one of the strongest villains in Dragon Ball Z history, forcing Goku and Vegeta to fuse to face him.
4. EX-Fusion with Metamo Ring

This technique appears in the Dragon Ball Fusions game on Nintendo 3DS and is not part of the official storyline. Thanks to the Metamo Ring developed by Capsule Corp, two characters with vastly different power levels can still fuse.
Characters like Karoly (a fusion of Goku and Broly) and EX-Gogeta were created using this method.
The biggest advantage of EX-Fusion is its flexibility, allowing nearly any characters to combine. However, many fans believe its power still can’t match traditional fusion methods.
3. Fusion Dance

This is the most famous fusion technique in Dragon Ball. Two warriors must have similar height, build, and power levels to perform the dance perfectly. One wrong move results in a weak, either overweight or skinny, fusion.
Gotenks and Gogeta are the most well-known warriors created through this method.
Fusion Dance produces power far beyond the sum of the two fighters and allows access to forms like Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan 4.
The only downside is the fusion lasts about 30 minutes and shortens quickly if too much energy is used.
2. Potara Earrings Fusion

If Fusion Dance is iconic, Potara fusion is considered the most effective method.
Simply wearing a Potara earring on opposite ears instantly fuses two individuals without needing to synchronize power or perform any ritual.
Originally thought to create permanent fusion, Dragon Ball Super clarified this only applies to gods. Mortals remain fused for about an hour.
Vegito is the clearest example of Potara’s power. In the battle against Fused Zamasu, Vegito Blue’s immense energy even caused the fusion to end earlier than expected.
Fans still debate whether Potara is stronger than Fusion Dance, but in terms of convenience and fully harnessing two fighters’ power, it remains one of the strongest fusion techniques ever.
1. Five-Person Fusion
Topping the list is a technique that nearly breaks all fusion limits. Featured at the end of Dragon Ball Fusions, it allows five warriors to merge into one massive being made of pure energy.
Though not part of the official storyline, this is the largest-scale fusion ever introduced in Dragon Ball.
Imagine Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten combining into a single fighter. With their combined immense power, this warrior is said to overpower nearly any opponent in the Dragon Ball multiverse, rivaling the strongest entities ever seen.
Despite existing only in the game, the five-person fusion is regarded as the pinnacle of all fusion techniques Dragon Ball has ever created.
