In the vast world of One Piece, the ability to fly is an incredibly valuable advantage. It not only boosts movement speed but also offers strategic benefits in battle, forcing enemies to be wary of aerial attacks. Interestingly, several Devil Fruits grant users the power to fly, either directly or through specific transformations.
1. Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Falcon
Pell, one of Alabasta’s strongest warriors, wields this Zoan-type Devil Fruit. It allows him to transform into a falcon, granting him wings to fly freely across the sky with incredible speed and agility. This ability gives Pell a major edge in combat, letting him move swiftly and even carry a massive bomb out of Alabasta to save the kingdom.
2. Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix
After eating the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, Marco gains the ability to soar through the air like Pell, but that’s just a fraction of his power. This Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit not only lets him take the form of the legendary phoenix but also grants extraordinary regenerative abilities.
Marco’s blue flames don’t burn, they heal. He can use this power to heal others, but it’s most effective when used on himself.
3. Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon
While Lunarians like King and the Seraphim have large black wings, those wings don’t seem to be their means of flight. King’s flying ability comes from the Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon.
This fruit lets King transform into a Pteranodon, a prehistoric flying reptile with wide wings and incredible speed. In this form, he becomes highly agile and dangerous in the air, using his sharp beak to pierce enemy defenses. What makes King even more deadly is his Hybrid form, where he can wield his wings like razor-sharp blades.
4. Fuwa Fuwa no Mi
Shiki the “Golden Lion” is a legendary figure from the old pirate era, and much of his power comes from the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, a unique Paramecia-type Devil Fruit.
This fruit allows the user to float in midair as if gravity no longer affects them. But it doesn’t stop there, Shiki can also make other objects float, from ships and huge boulders to weapons, as long as he touches them first. Remarkably, these objects remain suspended indefinitely unless he cancels the effect.
5. Guru Guru no Mi
Another unique Paramecia Devil Fruit that grants flight is the Guru Guru no Mi, eaten by Buffalo of the Donquixote Pirates.
This fruit turns Buffalo into the “Spinning Man,” letting him transform parts of his body or his clothes into high-speed rotating blades. This allows him to fly and move like a living airplane. Though the power looks comical, it plays an important strategic role, especially in aiding the mobility of Doflamingo’s crew.
6. Gasu Gasu no Mi
Beyond Paramecia and Zoan types, some Logia Devil Fruits also grant flight. With his gas powers, Caesar Clown can hover and glide through the air.
Caesar may not be the strongest Logia user if opponents exploit his weaknesses, but his mobility thanks to this fruit is undeniable.
7. Moku Moku no Mi
Before Caesar, Smoker’s Moku Moku no Mi allowed him to turn his body into smoke, enabling him to “fly” by transforming his entire body or at least his lower half into smoke.
This was one reason Smoker felt so formidable before the timeskip. Not only was he nearly immune to physical attacks, but his ability to chase down targets was impressive. Unfortunately, after the timeskip, he seemed to fall behind the major players in the New World, including Luffy.
8. Susu Susu no Mi
Karasu from the Revolutionary Army initially caused confusion about his Devil Fruit type. Many wondered if it was Paramecia or Zoan because he doesn’t just transform into one bird but multiple birds at once.
It turns out Karasu uses the Logia-type Susu Susu no Mi, which lets the user create, control, and transform into soot at will. With this power, Karasu can turn his body into soot and manipulate it into various shapes, including creating a flock of crows that can fly and act independently. This makes him extremely hard to track, highly versatile in infiltration or combat, and gives him a strategic advantage in the air.
