The Summer 2025 anime season is bursting with exciting titles, including spectacular returns like Dandadan Season 2. Yet amidst the many adaptations from Shonen Jump, a fresh newcomer is steadily gaining buzz: Tougen Anki. This anime has the potential to become a major phenomenon, possibly rivaling the popularity Solo Leveling once held.
Tougen Anki follows Shiki Ichinose, a teenager suddenly attacked by an assassin who discovers a shocking truth: he is actually an Oni (demon), while his foster father is a Momotaro, famed demon hunters. After his father is murdered, Shiki is drawn into a centuries-old conflict between the Oni and Momotaro clans, a war he never knew existed.
Tougen Anki Streams Almost Everywhere
The manga, created by Yura Urushibara, runs in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion and has 25 volumes released so far. The anime adaptation is produced by Studio Hibari, known for High Card, and linked to Studio Lerche, the studio behind Classroom of the Elite. This series marks the directorial debut of Ato Nonaka, who has worked on My Hero Academia and Kengan Ashura. The script is handled by Yukie Sugiwara, chief writer for Overlord IV.
Since Tougen Anki is not a Shonen Jump title, it flew under the radar before release despite a top-tier voice cast and promising characters, including Hiroshi Kamiya, known for voicing Levi in Attack on Titan.
What truly grabbed fans’ attention just before the premiere was the sheer number of streaming platforms airing the show. Tougen Anki is available simultaneously on Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Netflix, and several other international services. With such wide coverage, reaching audiences is clearly not an issue.
Tougen Anki Trending on Netflix
While Crunchyroll and Prime Video rarely share detailed viewership stats, Netflix maintains a weekly chart of its most-watched titles worldwide. Tougen Anki has already appeared on this global ranking during its debut week.
Although this data comes from just one platform, Tougen Anki trending on Netflix is a fantastic sign of its potential for long-term success. For comparison, Sakamoto Days Season 2, a Shonen Jump adaptation exclusive to Netflix, has yet to make this list. Since Netflix is the largest streaming service by subscriber count worldwide, making its top watched shows is an impressive feat that bodes well for Tougen Anki’s future.
