Solo Leveling fans have been eagerly waiting for news about Season 3 for months. It’s surprising that such a hit series, recently crowned Anime of the Year, hasn’t had its next season confirmed yet, especially since everyone knows Solo Leveling has huge potential to grow even more.
The fact that Season 3 hasn’t been officially announced months after Season 2 ended has left many confused. There’s definitely a major reason behind this, and it comes down to A-1 Pictures being tied up with other projects lined up for 2026.
A-1 Pictures Faces Staff Overload from Major Projects
There’s been plenty of speculation about why Season 3 hasn’t been announced yet, but it all boils down to one issue: A-1 Pictures is dealing with delays caused by other ongoing projects.
A-1 Pictures is one of the most watched anime studios today, but their workforce isn’t unlimited. Their production team is currently overloaded, as they can only handle a certain amount of work at a time. So far, the studio has confirmed three major projects for 2026.
First is Fate/strange fake. Fans know the Fate series demands extremely high animation quality, requiring a lot of effort to produce.
Second is Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan. This is an original anime from A-1 Pictures. Being an original project means the studio will invest extra attention and resources. Most shows by A-1 Pictures maintain high quality, so this project will also require significant manpower.
Lastly, Kusonoki no Bannin is set to premiere in January 2026.
All these projects demand a lot of time and resources. Atsushi Kaneko, the voice actor for Jin-Woo, also shared his thoughts:
“While I’m excited about the positive feedback, personally I don’t think this anime is widely recognized yet. Solo Leveling still hasn’t reached the level of Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto in Japan. As a Japanese person living here, I feel it hasn’t hit that status. But if Season 3 comes out, that’s when I want to truly break those boundaries.”
Beyond these projects, there are four other major titles A-1 Pictures is handling in 2025 alone. Clearly, the studio is overwhelmed, and Season 3 of Solo Leveling requires manpower and time they currently don’t have.
Solo Leveling Season 3 Delayed to Ensure Top Quality
This delay doesn’t mean Solo Leveling Season 3 isn’t a top priority. On the contrary, it shows the studio wants to deliver the highest quality possible for the new season.
By easing the workload and setting a healthy production schedule, A-1 Pictures is giving Solo Leveling Season 3 the best chance to reach its full potential.
When the time is right and the production team is free, Season 3 will be officially announced. Fans can definitely count on that.
