In the fiercely competitive world of anime, a strong storyline, compelling characters, or faithfulness to the original work alone are not enough to make a series stand out. One of the most crucial factors that can elevate an ordinary project to superstar status is outstanding animation. Examples like Demon Slayer and Solo Leveling have shown that an anime with impressive visuals can captivate audiences and firmly establish its name.
With over 100 new anime series announced, let’s highlight five titles expected to explode on screen soon thanks to their unique animation styles and graphics.
1. Sekiro: No Defeat
After much speculation, the anime adaptation of the hit game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was officially confirmed at Gamescom 2025. This project is special as it will be produced entirely with traditional hand-drawn animation. The official anime page confirmed Sekiro: No Defeat uses only hand-drawn techniques, promising smooth, realistic, and artistically rich fight scenes.
Although Qzil.la is a relatively new studio, with big names involved, Sekiro: No Defeat is expected to become an outstanding game adaptation.
2. Angel’s Egg 4K Restoration
Released in 1985, Angel’s Egg by director Mamoru Oshii is a surreal classic that gained wider recognition after Oshii became famous for Ghost in the Shell. While its story is abstract and highly artistic, Angel’s Egg is praised for having some of the most beautiful visuals in Oshii’s works.
To mark its 40th anniversary in November 2025, the film will be restored in 4K, giving audiences the chance to experience this masterpiece on the big screen with stunning graphics.
3. Sanda
The Fall 2025 anime season will see the return of big names like One-Punch Man and My Hero Academia. However, Sanda promises to be a major surprise visually. Adapted from the manga by the creator of Beastars, Sanda is a wild and quirky shonen series blending epic battles with absurd plot twists.
The trailer shows Studio Science Saru capturing this spirit perfectly, using a unique animation style that shifts colors dramatically from black and white to vivid red, creating a powerful visual impact.
4. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2
Though details remain scarce, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been confirmed with 10 new episodes continuing the success of the first season. While the story of main character David concluded, the second season may take an anthology approach, telling new stories set in Night City.
Even with the plot still a mystery, fans can trust Studio Trigger, known for its exceptional animation, to deliver breathtaking visuals once again.
5. Scarlet
Mamoru Hosoda, one of the biggest names in anime today, will release his latest film Scarlet at the end of 2025. Like Belle (2021), Scarlet will blend 2D animation with CGI.
While CGI use in anime films remains controversial, the teaser and trailer for Scarlet show a significant improvement in CGI quality compared to previous works. Set in the “land of the dead,” the CGI is expected to create a unique atmosphere, making Scarlet one of the finest CGI anime films to date.
