The legendary Naruto franchise by Masashi Kishimoto continues to expand through its sequel Boruto, overseen by Kishimoto and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto. Currently, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is shaking up the ninja world with the release of chapter 34 on May 20, 2026.
This new chapter opens an entirely fresh story arc, focusing all attention on a familiar name: the Uchiha clan.
The storyline subtly confirms that the series is set to fix a long-standing fatal flaw of the Uchiha clan, clearing the path for Sarada to reach a new peak of power.
An inevitable evolution and the cost of the Mangekyō Sharingan

Since awakening her Mangekyō Sharingan, Sarada’s legendary abilities have steadily grown. Her next step is to fully awaken and master Susanoo in battle.
However, chapter 34 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex presents a harsh challenge, revealing that Sarada is gradually losing her eyesight and must find a new source of power to counter this decline.
In the latest chapter, Haruno Sakura warns her daughter:
“I believe this treatment no longer suits you. Your vision has clearly worsened. This is the inevitable risk that comes with the Mangekyō Sharingan. The more you use it, the more your eyesight deteriorates… It depends on the nature of the jutsu and how you use it… but if you keep using it like this, you will eventually go completely blind.”
Facing this darkness is only a stepping stone. Sooner or later, Sarada will find a way to restore her vision and break the blindness curse of the Mangekyō Sharingan. Once this major barrier is removed, she will unlock the full potential of her eyes, especially activating a complete form of Susanoo and becoming one of the strongest characters in the entire series.
Sarada’s Susanoo will restore its former glory
According to Uchiha Itachi’s statement in chapter 392 of the original Naruto series, Susanoo was one of the three ultimate jutsu awakened alongside Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. However, this divine entity gradually faded into the background by the end of Naruto. In the Boruto sequel, Susanoo’s presence has diminished even further.
The only recent use of this ocular technique was when Sasuke fought Jigen in chapter 38 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in 2019. In that battle, Susanoo’s absolute defense was completely overwhelmed and shattered by a single kick from Jigen.
Now, creators Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto are making a strategic move to restore Susanoo as a dominant power through Sarada. This hope is well-founded, especially after the Ohirume technique was revealed in chapter 20, proving Sarada’s Mangekyō Sharingan is the strongest ever seen, nearing the level of Otsutsuki and the Six Paths.
The key to the fate of the Hidden Leaf Village

Logically, once the foundational ocular power is overwhelmingly strong, the Susanoo Sarada summons will surpass all previous standard versions, elevating her to an entirely new level of strength.
Possessing a destructive Susanoo will enable Sarada to carry the heavy responsibility of restoring the Uchiha clan’s glory. This is also the key for her to directly confront terrifying foes like Hidari and Jura, who currently threaten the survival of the Hidden Leaf Village. This development offers a perfect solution to many of the plot challenges the Naruto franchise has set up.
